KINGSPORT - Retail sales tax collections in the four-county Kingsport-Bristol MSA for July followed the national retail sector and ended three months of disappointing performance. 

According to newly released seasonally adjusted data from the Business and Economic Research Center at MTSU, retail sales tax collections in Kingsport - Bristol were the bright spot among the state MSAs on the month-over-month metric. The other MSAs showed declines from June collection levels and the state posted a 0.1% increase.
