KINGSPORT - The Friends of the Kingsport Public Library is sponsoring a double-author talk featuring bestselling authors Lisa Alther and John Shelton Reed.  Lisa will be talking about her new book, Stormy Weather and Other Stories and John Shelton Reed will discuss his book Dixie Bohemia: A French Quarter Circle in the 1920s.  The event will be held at the Kingsport Center for Higher Education auditorium on 300 W. Market Street on Monday, October 15 at 6:30.  Books will be available for purchase and signing.  Refreshments will be provided.  Free.

“Stormy Weather is probably as close as Lisa Alther will ever come to writing an autobiography.” The dozen stories, written over the course of her career, take place in the Southern mountains, in Vermont and in New York City.

“In Dixie Bohemia John Shelton Reed introduces William Faulkner’s circle of friends—ranging from the distinguished Sherwood Anderson to a gender-bending Mardi Gras costume designer—and brings to life the people and places of New Orleans in the Jazz Age.”
