About V. O. Dobbins Community Center
V. O. Dobbins Community Center and Park was the vision of V. O. Dobbins, principal of Douglas School, who presented the idea for a new football field and a swimming pool for his community to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. Today the Community Center is home to various community classes and activities and the surrounding park contains a baseball diamond, a playground, a basketball court, two tennis courts, and the Riverview Splash Pad. The Community Center is full of fun activities, which include billiards, bumper pool, ping pong, air hockey, a full gymnasium with a baskeball court, a volleyball court and a 300 seat staged auditorium. V. O. Dobbins Community Center is located at 301 Louis Street in Kingsport. The Community Center is open 9:00am - 6:00pm, Monday -Friday and hours are extended during the summer.
