SUBJECT: KPD Officer receives award at Children’s Advocacy Center

GENERAL NARRATIVE
The Kingsport Police Dept. is proud to recognize Officer Matt Cradic for receiving the 2024 Fred Cole Champion for Children Award through the Children’s Advocacy Center of Sullivan County. This is a new award introduced in 2024. The award is named after Fred Cole who was a dedicated volunteer and supporter of the Children’s Advocacy Center and its mission through the years until his death in 2023. It recognizes those persons who go above and beyond to improve and positively impact the lives of children in need. Officer Cradic was presented the award on April 4th
Officer Cradic serves as School Resource Officer at Roosevelt Elementary School in Kingsport. His co-workers at the school have said he quickly earned the trust of the students by the way he interacts with them. Officer Cradic has been caught repairing bicycles for students and helping a student’s elderly grandmother move furniture at her residence because no other family could help. Officer Cradic and his wife are also foster parents in TN. Officer Cradic has been with the Kingsport Police Department since March of 2021. During his short tenure, he has already made a significant impact within the community. KPD thanks Officer Cradic for his dedication.
